Aquilina Bertone 5 Custom (#021830) - natural

Entirely built by hand in France, the AQUILINA Bertone 5 Custom (#021830) 5-string active solid body electric bass, is an exceptional instrument with Alder body, Swamp Ash top, bolt-on Byzance's Hazel neck (34" scale), Swamp Ash fingerboard, Aguilar Super Single pickups, John East active preamp and Hipshot hardware.
It's a resolutely modern, dynamic and versatile bass, with 24 frets and ultra-easy access neck.

Sebastien Aquilina has obtained its diplomas at London Guild Hall University, then at ITEMM (Institut technologique européen des métiers de la musique) in 1998. He then continued learning with LAG, Gilles Pourtoy and Kopo Lutherie.
At the end of 2003 Sebastien opens its own workshop in Rennes France.
From 4 to 7 strings, Aquilina Basses stands out with gorgeous creations for Richard Bona, Etienne Mbappé, Kevin Reveyrand, Pascal Celma, Chip Shearin or Edo Castro.
Thanks to its Shelby with acoustic chambers, Sebastien Aquilina is the only french luthier to obtain the "Best of show" prize during Namm Show 2013.

Each Aquilina is created with a signature sound in mind, whether it is traditional or more modern, but with an eternal will to optimize balance between ergonomy and sounds.

Every tonewood is at least 15 years old dried, for the better stability.
Fingerboards benefit from a special treatment in order to homogenize spectrum and eliminate ghost notes.

Each step of the building process is done with exceptional accuracy, entirely by hand, without any computering.

For electronics and hardware, Aquilina uses the best equipment : Aguilar, John East, Glockenklang and vHipshot.
Necks are reinforced with a custom truss rod made of steel and carbon.
